Technical Background:
The Powerwall 2 relies on a cellular LTE connection for remote monitoring, control, and firmware updates. The gateway uses this connection to communicate with Tesla's cloud servers for data logging, remote diagnostics, and Storm Watch activation. Data transmission occurs using TCP/IP protocols over the LTE network. Signal strength is dependent on proximity to cell towers and environmental factors affecting radio frequency (RF) propagation. Firmware updates are pushed OTA (Over-The-Air) via this connection. Successful Storm Watch activation requires a stable and reliable LTE signal to receive weather alerts.
