How It Works:
The Panasonic EverVolt system integrates a lithium-ion battery pack, a battery management system (BMS), a DC-to-DC converter for charging and discharging, and a DC-to-AC inverter for grid interaction. The BMS monitors cell voltage, current, temperature, and SOC/SOH, controlling the cooling system to maintain optimal operating temperatures. Temperature sensors (NTC thermistors) are strategically placed within the battery module and power electronics compartments. The cooling fan speed is typically modulated by the BMS based on these temperature readings and power throughput. The system is also programmed to run self-tests and diagnostic routines, which can affect fan operation.
