The EG4 18KPV is a hybrid inverter combining solar PV input, battery storage, and grid connectivity. DC power from PV arrays is converted to AC power for household use or grid export. Excess PV power can charge a battery bank via a DC-DC converter stage. The inverter regulates DC bus voltage (typically 400VDC), manages battery SOC/SOH, and synchronizes AC output with the grid (240VAC, 60Hz). Critical components include MOSFETs, IGBTs, capacitors, inductors, transformers, and cooling fans. Overheating in these components often leads to the described odor. Internal temperature sensors trigger fan speed adjustments and ultimately, fault shutdowns to protect the unit.
